My art works are snapshots of times past using the cast-off bits of our history found in my travels. Old photos and book pages, bottles, bones, rusty metal, found wooden boxes and desk drawers all hold memories of previous lives. The shadowbox is an ideal vessel for these time capsules and show us small chapters of imagined eras. I am inspired by the intricate boxes of artist Joseph Cornell as well as Victorian Era “Cabinets of Curiosity”. These amazing collections of maps, specimens, and photographs were the beginnings of our Natural History museums and still motivate me to explore the world and create my own vision of what I encounter.
